I know I probably say this every month, but October flew by. I can’t believe Christmas is right around the corner. October didn’t bring me much new in the liking and loving category as I have been pretty repetitive in my everyday makeup. So I thought I would focus this post on those products.
What products have you been loving this month? I would love to hear your recommendations in the comments below.
I do have a couple new products added to the liking category.
Hey Honey Trick And Treat Active Propolis Cream Concealer
I received this in my October Ipsy bag and had pretty high hopes for it since I loved the serum from this brand. Although this product is good it hasn’t been the perfect fit for me. The formula is pretty thin which is nice on my dry under eyes but unfortunately doesn’t have the coverage my dark circles and veiny under eyes needs. For that reason when I have been using this I have been colour correcting and then layering this on top.
Annabelle Marie-Mai Collection Ombre Blush
I was really excited by this when I first picked it up at Shoppers Drugmart, and while I like it, I haven’t been reaching for it everyday. I find the shade is a bit bright on me, especially for this time of year. I think it will be a better fit for me in the summer, with the shimmery finish it has. It also is really easy to go ham with this, so go with a very light hand.
Ok onto the products that I have been loving in October and have pretty much been my everyday go tos.
I have fallen back in love with the CC+ cream from It Cosmetics. It has been my go to for foundation for October and I definitely feel like it is going to be my winter foundation. I don’t know if my skin is less red then it used to be, but this stuff seems to be hiding my redness with one application. It doesn’t leave me with dry patches on any of the breakouts I have, but it is super greasy looking by the end of the day.
I am still loving my two mini Tarte Palettes. I tried to switch out of these in October but I just keep coming back to them. The only complaint of these I have is the Tarte Pro To Go doesn’t have a light shade for highlighting my brow bone, so that is why I pair these two palettes together. Even though I am using the same palette my go to shade has switched up and I am loving Crisp in my crease everyday.
My go to mascara this month for my top lashes has been the Essence I Love Extreme Crazy Volume. I love how well this mascara builds up and it doesn’t move all day. The price definitely can’t be beat for under $5. I am still using the Tightline mascara from It Cosmetics to really get to the base of my lashes and my bottom lashes just because the brush on this one is a bit large and harder to get every lash but I love the look it gives. Because I have sparse lashes I like mascaras that clump a bit to make my lashes appear thicker and this mascara does that well.
Another Mascara that is on my love list for the month is the Lancôme Monsieur Big Mascara. I picked it up as a sample with a Sephora order and I love the effect this gives my lashes. However even though this is n my love list it will also be on my leaving list, because it doesn’t last the day for me. If I prime my eyelashes with the tightline mascara I can get a longer wear time out of it, but still not a whole day. I wish this wasn’t true, because I really love how this makes my lashes look.
I can’t stop using the Paaarty Blush from Tarte. I have been using it almost daily and even mentioned it in my September favs. Everyday I go to reach for a different blush I end up picking this one.
For lips I have been using a variety of the Fresh Lip Treatments. As I said my October makeup stayed pretty similar to my September. I love how comfortable these are on the lips and they have been keeping my lips pretty hydrated. If you read my you know I struggle with dry lips, but with these I kept pretty hydrated.
My go to powder for this month is the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores pressed powder. I was using the It Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores in loose but I received the pressed powder version in my Ipsy bag and I have already hit pan. I love the convenience of a pressed powder. Once this is gone I will definitely be using up my loose and then repurchasing this one.
For brows I have been using the Ka-Brow almost daily. Although I still can’t give up my Brow Pencil I do find myself reaching for this more and more often. I like the waxy texture of the brow gel, as it helps shape my brows and keep them in place. I am not a fan of the brush that comes with it, as I have said before, but using my own brushes with this product I have had really good results.
The brush I have been using with it is this brush from Inspr. I think I received it in an ipsy bag at one point, and although it is dirty here with product, I do find the more build of product it has left in it, the better it works. Once I wash it out, I find it takes a bit for the bristles to get back the way I like them. The other brush in the photo is a Still Blending brush, which has been my go to for my crease this month. I love using this brush with the that Tarte Shade Crisp and blending it in my crease. I believe this brush is from Walmart, although I can’t seem to find a link for it.
I haven’t found many new products that I am loving but I did try out the Mugwort Astringent + Pore Care sheet mask from Manefit and loved how it made my skin feel. It is the first sheet mask I have used that hasn’t left my skin red afterwards, and it made my skin feel clean and hydrated. I didn’t neccessarily notice changes in my pores, but I think that you would have to use it consistently to see that. I will definitely be repurchasing this mask.
So I have a few things that didn’t work out for my in October. Firstly the Garnier Skin Active Sheet Masks. I have a post up with a review of two of these masks, it was my original plan to review one a week, but I broke out so badly from the masks that I just couldn’t make myself use the third.
Bare Minerals Neutrals Palette. I like this palette overall, and while I may continue to use the eye shadows, the bronzer and blush broke me out horribly. It could be that the expiry is 12 months and I have had it a bit longer then that, but typically I haven’t had trouble with expiration dates. I love the shades, but I don’t want to take the chance on breakouts and since it is expired I won’t be using the face shades in this.
Peter Thomas Roth Hyaluronic Cloud Hydra-Gel Eye Patches
Reviews on Sephora are raving about this product being a miracle for under eyes, but it definitely wasn’t for me. The reviews claimed them to be cooling and rejuvenating for the under eye, but I noticed no difference after using them and after consistently using them. Reviews also mentioned how they were dripping in product but mine seems to have no product on them. I don’t know if I got a bad batch, but I don’t think they are worth $64.00.
So that’s my list for the month of October. Have you tried any of the same products? Had same or different results? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
