June Loving, Liking & Leaving

I feel like I was just writing my May Loving and Leaving post, I can’t believe June is over. For this month I wanted to change up this post a bit and call it my loving, liking and leaving. A lot of the time products that I am continually using are just products that I am liking, and would recommend, but aren’t holy grail, loving material.

Lets start with the products I am absolutely loving

Loving

IMG_6406My first pick for the loving category is an easy guess, since I am sure it is on the top of the list of many in the beauty community at the moment, Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette. I am so in love with this palette that I am finding it hard to use anything else. I don’t even know where to start, because I am loving so many shades in this palette.

IMG_6407The first look I did with it, was suppose to be a natural everyday look, as I was going shopping that day, but I gravitate so much to the right side of the palette, that I definitely went a little heavy. Which is super easy to do because these shadows are so pigmented. The shade Dirty Talk is AHHHmazing. Also En Fuego is beautiful for a dark crease. Another fav of mine is Ounce it is a beautiful inner corner and brow highlight. Although I love the deeper, darker colours, I have done some beautiful everyday looks with the lighter shades.

IMG_6394Physicians Formula Butter Bronzer- This is a product I loved when I first started using it, but then it kind of went dull for me and I wasn’t really liking it anymore. I was finding it hard to blend and then colour didn’t seem to be there, but I opened up a new one and I have fallen in love again. My last one suffered from hard pan and I think that is what was ruining it for me. I am happy I have tried a new one, and hope I can keep this one from going hard.

IMG_6398My third an final loving for the month is Wet n Wild Coloricon Ombre Blush  in 318 The Princess Daiquiries. I picked this up on a whim as I tend to go for more matte blushes, but this one is beautiful on. It is a beautiful pink and champagne shimmer. It is finely milled and the shimmer in it isn’t glittery. I usually mix all the shades together, but sometimes I will concentrate my brush on the darker pink for the apple of my cheeks, and then use another brush on the champagne tone and use that as a highlighter.

IMG_6397First on the liking list is  the e.l.f Foundation Serum I am working on a review post of this serum and when I post it, I will come back and link it but I have been really liking it this month. Last month I was super into using just primer and powder for a no-makeup look, this month I have been using this product to achieve that. It has been perfect for a light coverage, no make up make up look and has SPF 25. I mix the two shades Fair/Light and Light/Medium and I am liking the combo.

I also wanted to include a photo of the serum out of the bottles. Because the bottles are quite frosty I find the shades are kind of hard to tell.

IMG_6399I am going to pair these two together since they are super similar. Two Faced Better Than Sex and L’oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise mascara. I know the Two Faced brand has been a fan favourite for a long time and the L’oreal is the new fav as they are so similar, but for me I like them but they aren’t holy grail status. I do find they do flake a bit on me a bit but that isn’t what doesn’t send them to the love list, I just find they give me more length then volume and I typically like mascaras that give me more volume. I find the hourglass shape of their brushes a little hard to work with as it gives me more coverage on the outside and less in the middle–if that makes sense. I will definitely use them till they are gone, and maybe repurchase again, once I find the perfect pairing mascara(I like to layer mascaras to get the perfect look). When I do re-purchase it will be the L’oreal as they are so similar. Want to see my first impressions on these two, read here

Ignore all the makeup that is all over this, they now make the package in black for good reasons 🙂

Next on the list is Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. I used to only use this for when I went out and had to have my makeup last all night, but lately I have been using it more often for my day time look. I used it one day when I went a bit overboard with powder to make it blend a bit better and my makeup stayed on so well that day. I also find it looks really nice with the e.l.f foundation serum, so it has now moved into my everyday rotation.

A skin care product that is on my liking list that may move to the loving list after I get the chance to use it a bit more, is Ole Henriksen Pore Balance Facial Sauna Scrub. I like to use scrubs once a week to open up and clean out my pores and I got this one as a point perk or deluxe sample from Sephora to try out. I love the Ole Henriksen brand. I have only used this a couple times, since I only use scrubs once a week, but I like it. It really heats up, which opens your pores and helps to clean them out because it is formulated AHAs-glycolic and lactic acids. It is suppose to minimize the appearance of pores, which I haven’t noticed yet from my limited use, but my face definitely feels clean after using. I will do a full review on this product once I have more of chance to use it.

Leaving

Now onto the products that may be leaving my collection.

IMG_6391e.l.f Poreless Face Primer- I was on the search for the perfect pore primer and had picked this up to try. If you follow my Instagram account @beautybyreview you may have seen me try it out one day and while it is not a horrible primer, it just didn’t fill in my pores like I was hoping. It applies like a lotion, spreading out well but it is super slippery. The day I tested it out on my insta stories it took forever for my foundation to actually set onto of it because of it’s luminous finish . I found it hard to apply the foundation because it was so slippery and a couple hours later I was super shiny and patchy. Also this product smells like bathroom cleaner and the smell lingers. For me this product did not work at all.

Second on the leaving list- Maybelline Matte Lipstick in 545 Beige BabeMaybelline Matte Lipstick in 545 Beige Babe. I was wandering around Walmart and saw this was new and decided to pick it up. In the tube and on my hand it looks like a beautiful nude shade but on my lips it does not do anything for me. Both the colour and the formula. I should have known, I have a hard time with matte lipsticks since I have such dry lips, but add dry formula with bad shade (on me) and this is on the leaving list. If you don’t have a problem with dryness you may love this formula.

I am half considering keeping it for those days I want use a nude lip gloss for a really nude lip. I have quite pigmented lips, so when I use lipgloss like Buxom in White Russian  sometimes they don’t look as nude because of my darker lips, so I may save this for when I want a really, really nude lip but have the gloss on top to keep my lips from going crazy dry.

IMG_6392My last leaving product is Ole Henriksen Invigorating Night Creme. I purchased this because I love the Ole Henriksen brand and use the Sheer Transformation moisturizer every day. I thought this would be good for a night cream and it is a nice formula, but the smell!!! It is formulated with AHAs, primrose oil, and shea butter but that rose oil is soooo strong. Which I could deal with if it went away after even five minutes, but the smell lingers for so long. I have even tried to not put it near my nose, but I can still smell it all over my face. Every night when I go to put on my moisturizer, I feel like I have to talk myself into using this, and for that reason it has to be on the leaving list.

So my list was a bit longer this month! I hope you enjoyed reading through what I am loving, liking or leaving! I would love to hear what products you have been liking this month, let me know down below in the comments!

  1. What a great idea for a monthly post! I love Butter Bronzer and Lash Paradise. I also just bought ELF’s poreless primer so hopefully it works better on me, luckily its cheap.
